Make the first step easy

Sometimes taking that very first step can be the absolute hardest but once you do you’ll be on a roll, generating more and more momentum with every following step you take. It’s so common and normal to feel nervous, anxious, or even scared when it comes to getting started on a new health and fitness journey.

No matter whether it’s joining a gym, a group fitness class, a sport or even getting out in public and going for a walk you are more than likely to have reservations and be unsure about the whole process.

You may find yourself doubting what, when, and how you will make it work and then question who to go to for help. It’s okay to be unsure and it’s okay to not know what to do, especially in the beginning.

But if you do have a fitness goal or you simply want to get back into exercising then the first step is the most important. It needs to be taken before any other step. It is for this reason that it should be the simplest step. We need to make it as easy and straightforward as we can. That way you will actually do it.

So to help you on your way here are 3 simple suggestions to consider to help you take that first step.

  1. Do it with a Friend – Find a friend that would want to join in with you and do it together or find a friend already doing what you want to do and join in with them.
  2. Make a Booking – Whatever you are interested in doing, make a booking or reservation for it. This is your first step and is great accountability.
  3. Get Advice/Find Help – Getting help from someone will give you clear direction and confidence in your decisions.
